Mythos:
Elves are beautiful and mystical creatures, associated with wild nature and especially the forests. Some elves use their great beauty to seduce and abduct humans, often taking them to the ethereal elf-world outside of normal reality. Elves could become invisible, and could help or hinder human affairs according to their whim. Elves are especially known for causing illnesses in humans, those feeling a sudden . Some say that there are many clans of elves, like the High Elves that live in heaven alongside the Aesir, or the Dark Elves that live underground and craft impossible items from the secrets of the earth. There is a theory that the first elves were human sized, but as humans began to expand and defile nature and the old gods, the elves lost most of their power and shrank into creatures like fairies and leprechauns.

Insight:
The elf was my first humanoid character in the Acheron Series and served as a basis for all the others, even Humans. I had a lot of practice making 3D animal people before doing the Acheron Series, but not nearly as much with humanoids, so while I feel like the got the anthro face right on the first try, the humanoid face has been redone several times before the current form. I wanted to make elves noticeably inhuman looking, so there are a lot of drow/dark elf looking colors in their palette and even the more human looking skin colors are intentionally a little too yellow or too pale to look quite right. Although some people would probably insist that I make Light Elves and Dark elves into separate races, there wouldn't really be any geometry changes, so I didn't feel like the distinction merited a new race.
