Mythos:
For a long time, humans have been fascinated by the sky. We look up at it and can't help but wonder what it means. We see the stars march in their endless journey across the heavens and imagine the images of heros and creatures in their patterns, and for most of us, this is enough to satisfy our nagging inquisitiveness. But there are those who claim that the night sky is so much more. They say that every star up there is its own world, worlds full of unique plants and animals, and even people, just like us. Or perhaps there are people completely unlike us, strange beyond strangeness. Some believe that one day, we will cross the night sky and visit the children of the stars ourselves. Some believe, that they have already visited us. They say these Outsiders have arrived in secret, communicating with our heads of state, or with secret organizations beyond all scrutiny, or that the Outsiders visited our world in the distant past, that our ancient Sky Gods hurling thunderbolts at their foes or chimerical beasts spewing fire and venom are not the product of fanciful imaginations but the records of contact with the mind boggling vehicles and weapons of an advanced and distant world.

Insight:
Outsiders are obviously space aliens, a modern mythology rather than an ancient one. It's fascinating to draw parallels between ancient legends of elves and dragons and modern creatures like aliens, ghosts and sasquatch. There's no end to the variation of strange alien creatures out there, and with increasingly elaborate mythical creature designs, I was tempted to really go to town with Outsiders. But ultimately, I felt like a simple design was still sufficient to look alien and simplicity is a nice change of pace that will hopefully attract some of the buyers that aren't too keen on the anthropomorphic characters. I think it's an interesting little fact of life that sexy anthro characters are generally frowned upon but sexy alien babes are generally acceptable.
